Ryan's YAG visit

Ryan and class... I was unable to leave a comment under your paper... Something was buggy...So I'll do it here...

Another fun to read piece, Ryan... I have made the suggestion to tap the expertise of the guards during your outings... you will be amazed at what you'll learn from them...
Hals is an important painter and is similar to Rembrandt...(also Dutch) A good place to begin is with Wikipedia... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frans_Hals
There is a good discussion of his life, influence, and much more... It is important to place your main artist in an art historical movement and to understand how he or she contributed to the evolution of art....
Picasso can be understood in that context too... at the time of the discovery of quantum mechanics and the theories of Sigmund Freud, the world was receptive to new ideas about perception... Picasso showed us about perceiving simutaneous time and space... art has never been the same since.
